Fromes' FREE festival of living and dying., with theatre, music, talks, stalls and exhibitions. There will also be a chance to talk with and listen to experts in their field about all matters related to death, dying and bereavement. Events will take place over several days with each day having a different theme. The weekend exhibitions will take place on the weekend of 12th/13th October 2019 at Christ Church, St Johns' Church and The Cheese and Grain in Frome.
Pushing up the Daisies is a 'Not for Profit, Community Enterprise' and any profits from ticketed events will be shared between charities including Dorothy House
Our festival is an opportunity for you to listen to some experts in their field. From finding out what happens behind the scenes at the crematorium to exploring greener funerals our talks cover a wide rage of topics throughout the two days. There will also be many opportunities to participate in a death cafe in a more informal setting. Music art and theatre have always been an integral part of our experiences of loss and dying. Our featured artists have a particular connection in some way to bereavement and have used their experiences as inspiration to create some beautiful works featured in this festival. Our exhibition stalls will give you a chance to discuss with and visit a huge variety of experts. Saturday will be at Christ Church and is a chance to talk to counsellors and various bereavement charities such as Dorothy House, THE RUH bereavment team and Winstons Wish. It will include time for reflection, music and candle lighting in this beautiful, quiet space. Sundays exhibition is at the Cheese and Grain and there will be many stands including willow coffin weaving, shrouding demonstrations and firework driven Ashs scattering! Information on wills and probate, funeral directors and alternative hearses, the latest coffins to beautiful handmade cremation jewelry, if there is something you would like to find out more about then come along and talk to the exhibitors.
All these events are FREE to attend.
During the build-up to the festival we would like you to choose your favourite piece of music for your own funeral. This list will then be compiled into Fromes' Funeral Top 10 to be revealed on Sunday at closing.
